Katie Noonan

For the first time Aria award-winning Katie Noonan will team up with internationally renowned guitarist, Karin Schaupp, to present a selection of songs from the British Isles. The lovely Katie Noonan talks shop.

What was the first concert you went to? First album you bought?

First concert – ABBA (in utero) at the SCG a couple of days before my birth.

First album – the incredible Crowded House (I was eight). I went halves in the vinyl with my big brother.

If you weren’t creating music what job would you be doing?

Probably in arts administration/direction, dreaming up exciting ideas.

How would you describe Karin’s guitar playing?

Gentle, intimate and beautiful.

Why have you chosen to perform songs from the British Isles?

It is such a wonderfully fertile, rich repertoire pool to choose from. There are centuries of beautiful music making in the British Isles for voice and guitar so it seemed the perfect choice.

What can audiences expect from this show?

A lovely journey of songs spanning over 400 years from some of the best British composers: from Dowland and Purcell through to Radiohead and Peter Gabriel.
